I tried a few times and just gave up. I'm going for LDoA now. I like it b/c I can die and be ok with it. Now that I can't be dragged out of Pre unwillingly things are looking up. The closest I can was with my Paragon. I lagged out and came up dead. She was literally 10k exp away from tier 1!!

Died on 550000 xp on my monk because of heroes and hench going on strike (ie. refusing to heal the only party member taking damage)
Mass deleted all but 2 of my chars, and started praying for ANet to change this stupid title.
It would be nice to get legendary survivor if you could gain 1337000 xp without dying and not have go from 0xp-1337000xp without dying. This would really be neat because I loved the idea of playing the game and trying my utmost not to die. Sorta made the whole PvE side oddly resemble a RPG.

I remember I got survivor and LDoA.

This is possible, I had a friend death level the guys, and I killed them. It was long/boring and stuff but yea.

I no longer have the guy since the account I had him on got key-logged =[ it was a ranger too!

I got two Legendary Survivors on my Ranger and Mesmer. Other characters except the first one have first level survivor. Seriously, PvE is so easy only thing that can get you killed is that if you can't make a balanced build or aggro multiple monster mobs.

Rage deleted my first and only attempt halfway to tier 2...building a character around surviving yet still trying to have fun is just not gonna happen. Either you're too defensive to be useful to your team, or you're not defensive enough and get into trouble, either mapping out or losing progress. Either way, you're useless to your team...so I don't bother anymore.

I kill every new character to avoid getting sucked in. You can sleepwalk to the first level, but after that any slight glitch, mistake etc, and all I've got is another incomplete title bar, sneering at me.

So I don't even let it start anymore.

I made like 20 tries, before my Ranger got Legendary Survivor

1st - 6 th attempt: Ranger > Made Survivor > Died in Vizunah Place Mission
(that was horrible, ever in the same Mission)

7th attempt Ranger > Made Survivor R2 > Died in the Forgotten City of Ahdashim

8th attempt Dervish > Made Survivor R2 > Died also in the Forgotten city of Ahdashim

9th attempt Elementalist > none Rank > Died somewhere on Istan through Lag

10th attempt Monk > none Rank > Died somewhere on Shing Jea thx to Lag

11th-13th attempt > Dervish > each R1 > Died in Mission Consolat Harbour, while making a Quest in Vaabi and thx to Lag

14th to last attempt > Ranger > all R2 and last one got finally R3 due to excessive analyzing of my behavior, kinds of moving where and learning out of my mistakes from the other attempts.

14th: died in Mission 9 Elona
15th: died while making a Quest in Kourna
16th: died while farming LB points
17th died in Mission 10 Elona
18th: died thx to a god damn monk player, who forgot to heal/prot me in Vizunah Place
19th: died while farming, cause I underestimated some enemies, with that I have with an other class normally 0 problems
20th: yafter 2 Months of making all missions carefully with no mistakes, playing only with PUG, hunting for Elite-Skills, while the Double Exp Weekend were active and carefuly farming LB points at 1 place with EXP trippling scrolls, i made the R3 finally and got so my real "main Chara"

I never leaved/leeched or so by any attempt, I made everythign only through making Missions/Quests, Farming with Scrolls or E-Skill Hunting(< this especially most, with that i got by far most my points ) and I'm proud of, that I've least 1 character in the moment, with this title.

after I got it, I didnt cared anymore about, if i die now, or not, I started playing normal again, then after further like 75k exp, I died ..proudly XD and was in genera happy, to die again whenever i want XD without a problem

I say only, now more R3's will follow and when I can make a Ranger to R3 with my tactics, I can make now the other classes too with it.
Imo its really only a matter of making experience ..lots of experience first and then you must start to learn about your mistakes, so that you don't do them ever again twice, to reduce really your chances to die only on having lags, what simple means, ur unlucky... and its not your fault then

I think, next R3 I'll try will be now an Elementalist, with Earth Build, once it has Stoneflesh Aura and all these other skills, which massively boost my Def, it should be easy enough to farm with it, like i farmed with my ranger

Amen to that! And it is especially not fun if you are the guildies going with the person on the missions. Talk about pressure! I sure don't want to be the one there if they were to die....

I wanted (and got) my Para to r3 survivor.

It was like my 5th attempt..

But before, when I died, I just thought:

FFS. Delete. Restart , not many hours lost. Died like 4 times with ~200k xp. Lucky, I guess.

When I made my monk I made her to be a Legendary Survivor. But after a while I decided it didn't really matter if I died or not, because she was a fun character to play. I did end up getting the title though, but if I didn't, I wouldn't have deleted her. Maybe I would have tried again on another character, who knows.

I decided after that, (for me) Legendary Survivor really wasn't as fun as just playing through the game. Not that it wasn't fun, but I loved the day that I could let my monk die...and die...and die. It was nice being able to play through the game without having to worry. I was very proud of my monk though, and she became quite the spoiled brat after that

Now, every time I make a new character I get them to tier 1 since it's pretty easy and fun, then kill them. That way they have a title of their own, and I don't have to worry about keeping them alive. Maybe in the future I'll go for Legendary Survivor again, who knows.

I admire the persistence many of you have, and I encourage you to keep going. Soon enough you'll have a Legendary Survivor of your own.

Going for LS puts a lot of pressure on the OTHER people in a group so, when I was going for mine, I ALWAYS went with strictly a H&H group. I created my Ele in NF, did all the quests and missions on Istan, then went to Cantha to do as many of the quests as I could. I avoided doing any missions there since that would jeopardize the title. When I ran out of quests, I used scrolls and killed Jade Brotherhood until I was bored out of my mind. The day I got LS was one of my happiest, not only because I got the title, but also because I could FINALLY stop this madness! The very next thing I did was do THK in HM since this seemed like an appropriate way to register my very first death.
I don't think I'll every try for another LS since its way too stressful to play a game that way. I did it just to see what it was like and believe me, I wouldn't want to go through that again. I'm sure there are some players that would say avoiding missions and basically killing monsters for XP is farming the title and as such, makes Legendary Survivor less meaningful. Honestly, I never thought ANY of the titles were very meaningful to begin with. Just because you consume sweets, alcohol, ID golds or uncover a map, it doesn't make you leet. Just because I reached LS, it doesn't make ME leet. Its just something else to do in the game. And its ONLY a game.

Yeah, the fact that people tend to do NOTHING because they're afraid they'll lose survivor really drove me off it for a while. IMHO that's a coward attitude to it.... what's so "leet" about getting a title you barely worked for?

I've never really went for a serious Legenday Survivor myself; first of all I was never really bothered. Second, my mes made it to Survivor lv1 without too much difficulty, only exited once - 2 quests away from title, there was this huge mob and I aggroed it by mistake. Too close to lose, but I'd have never left out of a real team. Would have sucked, but would have lived with it.

Sums my thoughts when I lagged while fighting naga with my wannabe-survivor ritualist.

1st attempt - channeling ritualist
Was at Survivor (1), doing a primary quest in Cantha. I think it was the one where you end up at Vizunuh Square. Teamed with real people. Went back to try to rescue others who died. Ended up dying myself.

2nd attempt - paragon
Also Survivor (1), attempted the Grand Court mission in NF with H-H. Didn't make it.

3rd attempt - spear dervish
Got to Indomitable Survivor (2) this time. Made the mistake of going to the Tyria desert during a double exp skill capture weekend. Kephket and crew decided to hone all their focus on mostly me, ignoring all others. Died.

4th and final attempt - spear assassin
Started out as a A/Rt channeling/dancing daggers spellcaster. Got to NF, switched secondary to paragon and the real fun started. Used another double exp skill capture weekend to get the last half of her exp for Legendary Survivor (3). But then I thought "Why stop here? Let's see how much further I can get her with 0 deaths." Quest after quest, mission after mission, beating all 3 campaigns. Very close to 2 million exp, in my eyes, she was unstoppable..... until she did the EotN quest "What Must Be Done". A siege devourer boss sneaked up on my team and I didn't notice until it attacked. Killed her and most of the H-H team in one hit. Even though she was already Legendary, I was still mad over this. I wanted to set an all-time record for most exp with 0 deaths. So much for that.

But with all my attempts, none of those characters farmed their exp points. Just doing quests, missions and the double exp skill capture weekends.

All four are still around. Paragon is now my characters' item seller and extra storage. Rit sometimes does a little adventuring if there was a quest reward item I needed or something. Same with the dervish. Haven't played the assassin much since her death, been focused on getting my monk (and main character) through EotN. They all go treasure hunting from time to time, as well as the rest of my 10 characters.

i made like 3 not so serious attempts at just going after level 1 survivor on new characters. at that time i was just going for level 1 to see if i could actually get it. it was before the days of heros and counting on the henchies was my downfall everytime.

on my first serious attempt it was on a Ranger. i created him as a replacement to my ranger, the first character i made over 2 years ago but never really liked his name, and if i got legendary survivor it was time to re-do all the titles my other ranger had. anyways my survivor attempt finished all missions in Tyria, got to eternal grove and gyala hatchery in cantha and ruins of morah in elona. i had capped every ranger and monk skill along the way and was up to 1mil xp now and went out into HM into the desolation to do the sunspear point farm run trying to hurry the title along. on the 4th run i died going after the treasure chest and not waiting til the area was cleared first. i didnt kill off the character yet. did some BP runs in tombs, letting the deaths rack up. ended up getting the best chest drop ive ever gotten from all 3 games with my failed survivor attempt, a 15^50 req 9 mursaat horn bow from the abbadons mouth mission. he has since been killed and restarted.

my 2nd attempt was done the same way as the first but this time with a Mesmer. completed tyria, and up to the same points as the ranger was in the other games. took the Mesmer into EoTN going after some of those nice xp quests when going down the Asura line i got ran over by a big flippin ball. first words out of my mouth was WTF til i looked and saw no death. mapped out and went bact to cantha where it was safer to finally reach legendary survivor. final 200k xp i needed was done with FFF runs because i wanted to finish the title so i can get back to playing the game without worring about dying.

i now have an assassin, ranger and monk going for survivor. monk died at lvl5 going to elona to get heros, deleted and restarted already

Default Attempts

Attempt 1: Mesmer, got to 1.25M xp and died due to lag
Attempt 2: Dervish, got to level 20 and stopped, now storage for the moment
Attempt 3: Paragon, got Legendary Survivor
Attempt 4: Monk, got Legendary Survivor
Attempt 5: Mesmer, got Legendary Survivor
Attempt 6: Warrior, got Legendary Survivor
Attempt 7: Assassin, currently at 450k xp

Where I get xp from is from quests, missions, capping skills and of course killing things. I usually do all quests and missions in Nightfall up to the Grand Court mission. In Factions I go as far as I can as it is fairly easy. In Prophecies I usually finish it. For EoTN I complete the Norn side with the exception of the 1v1 quests. Then I go to the Asuran side and do as much as I can.

For me, I learn to take my time instead of charging headlong into battle.
